Device for thermal testing of materials SETSYS Evolution 16 (Setaram, France) allows the thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in the temperature range from ambient to 1 600oC.

TGA (TG) – method, which measures the change in mass of the sample in a controlled atmosphere. This change can be characterized by its mass loss (separation pair) or increase (gas absorption).

DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) – a method used for determining the variation of thermal flow emitted or received by the sample, which is subjected to thermal stresses in a controlled atmosphere. When heated or cooled, any change occurring in the material, accompanied by the exchange of heat: DSC to determine the temperature of this change and determine the amount of heat.

DTA (Differential Thermal Analysis) – the method by which the temperature difference is measured between the test and control (of a thermally inert material) samples as a function of time and temperature when they are exposed to a temperature program in a controlled atmosphere. DTA method makes it possible to detect any changes for all categories of materials.

TMA (Thermomechanical Analysis) – a method which measures the deformation of a sample under non-oscillatory load when it is subject to temperature effects in a controlled atmosphere. Imposed loads may be compression, tension and bending.
